There are several options to consider but sadly most are quite difficult for Ex-Pats, especially if you don’t speak Spanish. There are very few options for English speaking care but HCP Home Care Adeje is a one place to start. There are other options but you need to face head on what your circumstances COULD be and think hard before that time comes about what you want out of life, including possibly going back to the UK or your home country.
If you need care at home, you will be entitled if you have paid into the system long enough but you will be lucky if they are fluent in English and it frankly won’t be enough.
If you have paid into the system in Tenerife long enough, you have live in options but VERY few English speaking. If you are considering this option, check your entitlement careful and visit one or two to see how you feel about it.
If you are not yet in need of a live-in retirement home, you may be able to manage by “throwing money at it” as the saying goes. You will need the services of a qualified nurse, a cleaner, interpreter, “companion” if you need a wheelchair and want to get out for a coffee, drink or meal now and again and don’t forget someone to prepare meals, wash up, change and wash bed-clothea and so on.
Island Home Care began in the North of Tenerife and soon realised there was a great demand in the South. Their register of services should cover most or all of your needs. They do NOT provide nursing services but specialise in bringing people together – those with various needs like cleaning, bed changes, meals, hospital trips, social outings, companions – and people who can meet those needs.
If you own your own property you could consider offering a permanent position with accommodation to someone who can meet your needs. There are 2 very different options. If you need 24 hour care you will need to include 2 additional people, ie you will need a total of 3 people to cover 3 x 8 hour shifts as you cannot expect 1 person to cover 24/7. At that point you should be considering a nursing home perhaps.
As with the 2 bed option but this actually offers opportunities for your carer to expande their hours, look after a second person, put additional support in place. It also makes for more of a social atmosphere where you can support each other.

The biggest difference between tennis and pickleball courts is the presence of the “Non-Volley Zone,” colloquially known as “the Kitchen.”

Is Pickleball the same as Padel?

Reiki healing is a Japanese energy healing technique in which a trained practitioner helps guide energy through a person’s body to promote balance, relaxation, and well-being.
During a typical session, the Reiki Practitioner has the client relax in a sitting or lying position. You take a few deep breaths as the room is filled with aromatherapy and soothing music.
The practitioner will scan their hands over the client feeling for energetic disruptions in their field. When there is a disruption, the practitioner will then meditate and breathe as the “clouded” energy dissipates leaving the client feeling relaxed and stress free. Los Gigantes is an impressive must-see destination located on the west coast of Tenerife. The cliffs of Los Gigantes de Tenerife are one of the natural jewels that the island offers and an essential visit in the Canary Islands.
It dates from the sixteenth century and was built on an old Nasrid gate and in which you can see Roman statues and inscriptions.

The marina has 368 berths spread over five pontoons with fresh water and electricity, as well as a travel-lift, a service station and mechanics on the dock itself. If a boat holiday is your thing then check out Moovers II at Amarailla Golf Marina.
Los Gigantes boasts an attractive sand beach but being black volcanic sand, is not rated particularly highly among beach lovers.
For the warmest weather, the obvious choices are in Tenerife South. Playa Paraiso typically enjoys the warmest average year-round temperatures on the island, mostly calm with no strong winds. High and low temperatures are typically 21c/16c in January and 29c/23c in August.
Playa Paraiso is a quiet and chilled place in Tenerife South, close enough to grab a taxi to the more popular resorts if you want to go for a night of fun. Playa Paraíso is technically on the Costa Adeje but it is not the Costa Adeje that most people know. It’s a bit off the beaten path.

Los Cristianos began life as a tiny fishing village in the south of Tenerife but is now the second busiest port in Tenerife. However, the town still maintains a distinct Canarian flavour with narrow streets and passageways that give it an authentic feel. For less adventurous holiday makers, this is the closest you may get to authentic Canarian life. However, the town is a perfect springboard from which to explore other parts of the island, or other islands.
Los Cristianos has a fantastic range of restaurants, from the simplest cafe to upscale fine dining. Nearly all public promenades, walkways and beaches have excellent disabled access and ramps.

Whilst Los Cristianos tends to cater to a more mature clientele in the winter months, the resident population is quite young. For late night action, the place to visit is CC San Telmo, a long strip of bars and restaurants next to Las Vistas Beach. Early evening is fairly sedate with life focused around the intimate restaurants and ‘chill-out’ terrace bars but things typically liven up after midnight. The strip also has a couple of indoor clubs/discos open until very late.
Los Cristianos has 2 excellent beaches, Las Vistas and the Harbour beach. Las Vistas is by far the more attractive with light coloured sand, turquoise waters, water sports and almost every other amenity.
For the warmest weather, the obvious choices are in Tenerife South. A 16 miles area typically enjoys the warmest average year-round temperatures on the island, mostly calm with no strong winds. High and low temperatures are typically 21c/16c in January and 29c/23c in August. Los Abrigos, Las Galletas and El Medano are inclined to be windy. In winter they can be a couple of degrees cooler and in summer, several degrees warmer.
In one of the liveliest areas of Arona, in the south of Tenerife, is Las Américas beach, also known simply as Las Américas, a golden sand beach brought directly from the Sahara (Africa). El Camisón and Las Vistas are the most popular beaches in the area. Las Vistas is a long beach located in the heart of Las Americas.

For the warmest weather, the obvious choices are in Tenerife South. El Medano enjoys the warm year-round temperatures. High and low temperatures are typically 21c/16c in January and 29c/23c in August. El Medano is inclined to be a little windy.
El Médano has a golden sand beach, shallow waters and moderates waves. Over time the center of El Médano has become a popular spot for windsurfing and kite-surfing due to it’s constant winds. It is one of South Tenerife’s most attractive beaches, both for water sport enthusiasts and for those who are looking for a family-oriented resort.

Coffee culture is a staple in Tenerife. It’s important to know what to expect when ordering.
Canarian coffee is known for its smooth, balanced flavor and medium body. It has a distinct nutty, chocolatey flavor with hints of caramel and fruit. The coffee is generally medium-roasted, which helps to bring out the subtle flavors and aromas of the beans.
On the island of Tenerife, in La Matanza de Acentejo, Finca Sanssouci has the distinction of being the northernmost coffee grown in the world. Because of the island’s isolated location and lack of pests, this coffee is grown without any pesticides or fungicides.
Cortado
Correctly know as the ‘cortadito’ , it consists of a shot of espresso with a dash of hot milk. It comes in a small coffee cup or glass with a saucer.
Cortado Largo
A cortado served with extra milk. The cortado largo is served in a tall glass to differentiate it from the café con leche.
Café Solo
Order a ‘café’ in a Canarian bar and you get you a café solo. The solo is strong and may disagree with your stomach.
Café con Leche
Café con leche is served in a white cup and saucer often with excess of sugar. Often frothy and rarely made with anything other than full-fat milk.
Cappuccino
This is as fancy as coffee gets in Tenerife. Cappuccino is just a café con leche with chocolate powder on top.
Leche y Leche
A cortado or cortado largo served in a tall glass with a hefty dollop of condensed milk at the bottom. The leche leche always comes with oft-unused sachets of sugar.
Barraquito
Barraquito is a sweet coffee – very popular in Tenerife. In the north of the island, it is also known as zaperoco or saperoco.
The Barraquito is layered by density of ingredients, bottom to top: Condensed milk, Licor 43, espresso and foamed milk. It´s served in a medium or tall glass , and is decorated with ground cinnamon and lemon or lime peel.
Descafeinado
The descafeinado comes, unless you specify otherwise, as a cup of hot milk with an instant sachet on the side.

The range of Canary Island cheeses is vast. Each of the seven islands has its particular variety. The most outstanding examples are the Majorero Cheeses from Fuerteventura.
The cheese made in Tenerife is usually prepared from goat’s milk, although sometimes it is mixed with sheep or cow’s milk. Usually a fresh cheese but we can also find the smoked varieties.
Manchego is identifiable by the zigzag pattern that is etched into its rind. In Spain, this goat’s milk cheese is washed in red wine during the aging process giving the rind a deep burgundy color, flowery aroma and buttery flavor. This is known as Drunken Goat.

Whilst we are happy and encourage you to visit, meet the horses and see our project, please remember that we WORK. We don’t currently have volunteers, so everything that needs doing is done by me. On top of the everyday chores involved in caring for the animals, we have regular jobs to help finance this project.
I (Emm) work from home, so I am around almost all of the time (with the exception of essential errands).

Tenerife Horse Rescue Sustainable Animal Sanctuary
Open every day to give tours around the finca, meet the animals, volunteers and see the work in action. However please remember that our sanctuary is 100% run on volunteers so you must be flexible.
Our opening hours are 9:00 – 2:30 every day. Via appointment.
Unfortunately we need money, we can’t pretend otherwise. We need money and we need a lot of money. On average we need more than 3500€ a month just to survive, this is without growing the sanctuary. This is mainly for horse feed which is on average 110€ a month per horse and we currently have over 20. You can do the maths. This is food alone and does not include vet bills and other animals.

The refuge receives no official government funding and we rely solely on you, the public, for donations and sponsorships.
Rescue dogs have so much to give in return for a loving and safe home. They make great family pets and faithful companions. However, we know many people would love to adopt a dog but, for many different reasons, it isn’t practical to have a pet. If that’s the case for you, how about sponsoring one of dogs while they wait for their own special forever home?
For €8 euros or £8 each month, just chose which of our dogs you would like to sponsor. PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD)
Not everyone has the time to book a course without first getting a taste of scuba diving. We offer try diving programs for non-certified divers. You will be under our guidance and follow the highest of safety standards.

Cotton is golf’s ultimate ‘hands’ man, an unrepentant iconoclast who relentlessly insists: (a) that the ever-growing accent on body action is at best wrongheaded and at worst physically injurious and (b) that there is no way mechanically to program and fundamentalize the golf swing, at least insofar as the average mortal is concerned.
In proclaiming that the key to sound and long-lasting golf lies in the condition and actions of the hands, Cotton does not deny that other methods work – simply that the hands method, once mastered is the easiest, most effective, and longest lasting.
The only really adamant stance he takes is against the concept that the golf swing can be mechanically standardized – a position borne of his own failure to do just that after one of the greatest single efforts in history to accomplish such a goal.
Golf is an individual game and will ever be so, whilst human beings vary in physique. The thoroughness with which American golfers have analysed golf in an attempt to find ‘the secret’ has further convinced me there is no secret.

Freebird Sailing was founded in 1994, specialising in cruises aboard a 30-seater catamaran. Now the largest catamaran service in the Canary Islands, offering trips on 3 catamarans.
But are they the best choice for your catamaran trip?
First you should thoroughly check prices, food options and the number of people onboard. Freebird has a good reputation with 4 stars out of 5. There are others with 5 out of 5 so look at the small niggles on Freebirds reviews.
The most common irritation seems to be value for money especially with food.
- We were told that the trip catered for vegetarians which was a complete lie. The only dish served was meatballs and rice, with the veggie option being just rice. Not paella rice. Not egg fried rice. Just boiled rice, a bread roll and a banana.
- You can rent a sunbed for 10 euros which we did very comfortable. Please bring your own food as they only offer a small bread roll each with cheese and ham. Free soft drinks, beer and water during trip though.
- Far to many people on board not enough sun lounger and the ones on board you had to pay extra for but only if you were there early enough to bag one , food absolutely terrible considering the price paid per ticket

WHY DID THE GROOVES DISAPPEAR FROM GOLF DRIVERS IN THE LATE 1990’s ?????
What a thought!? No grooves on the face of a golf driver? !?!?!
That was the golf industries response when the V Project suggested this to them. The IMG backed golf product accessing project V Project stated clearly that grooves were on little use and a smooth face would give golfers an instant straighter and longer driver. Which eventually the golf industry took on board.
It wasn’t new technology though! Oh no, the rules of golf had it covered in the original rules of the game, the face shall be smooth…..
I learnt the smooth face from caddying for the late great Christy O’connor, who would have his driver revert back to the old rules smooth face by applying araldite into the grooves and sanding the face smooth with emery paper. It kept the ball straighter and lower trajectory in windy weather.
So naturally, heading up the six year V Project I brought that to the table early on.
Sadly the V Project couldn’t protect the change by patent, but it was a nice gift to change golfers games all around the world.

Ceviche-N1 Peruvian Restaurant Ceviche Menu
Peruvian Food Recipes – Traditional and modern Peruvian cuisine recipes from easy to chef level. Try one of these delicious recipes!
Lomo Saltado is made with ingredients and techniques that reflect the mix of cultures that contributed to its existence. It’s an example of chifa cooking, a term that describes the Chinese-Peruvian hybrid cuisine created by Chinese immigrants who moved to South America more than a century ago, as well as the restaurants where Peruvian food is served.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups boneless/skinless chicken thighs
5 eggs scrambled and then roughly chopped
2 1/2 cups cold cooked white rice
1/2 cup onions diced small
2 garlic cloves minced
1 whole red bell pepper diced
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions plus the white parts
salt and pepper for taste
3 tbsp vegetable oil
Soy sauce mix
Picarones are a traditional dessert from Peru. Similar to donuts and very common throughout Latin America, picarones are prepared with sweet potato and pumpkin in Peru. They are accompanied by a spiced honey or molasses.
Ingredients
1 pound sweet potatoes
1 pound pumpkin
2 teaspoons aniseed
1 tablespoons sugar
1 ¾ tablespoons active dry yeast
1pound all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil for frying
4 cups chancaca syrup
For the syrup:
2 chancaca pieces
2 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves, 1 fig leaf
2 star anise
pineapple peels
1 orange, whole
Instructions
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut in medium sized squares. Peel and chop the pumpkin. Put in a heavy saucepan with the aniseed, add water to cover, and cook over medium high heat until soft. Drain, reserving the water, and process in the food processor or mash the sweet potatoes and pumpkin to form a soft puree.
Cool the water to lukewarm. In a bowl put one cup cooking water and the sugar; add the active dry yeast, stirring until dissolved. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes in a warm place, until it forms a sponge.
Put the potato and pumpkin puree in a large bowl; add the activated yeast. Add the flour, and mixing with your hands add ½ cup of the cooking water, until the dough is no longer sticky, and feels soft and silky. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest in a warm and quiet place, until double or triple in volume, at least two hours.
When the dough is ready, heat a good amount of oil in a big saucepan to deep-fry the picarones.
This is a fundamental step and requires skill and training. With practice, you will get there. Have a bowl with cold water nearby; with one wet hand, take a portion of dough, and quickly try to make a ring shape with your thumb while you put it in the hot oil. With a long wooden stick, turn the picarones around (you can use a kitchen fork to do this).Serve drenched with syrup.
For the syrup:
Chop chancaca and put in a saucepan with cinnamon sticks, cloves, fig leaf, star anise, pineapple peels, and orange. Cover with water and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the chancaca is dissolved and forms a thick syrup. Strain discarding the solids, cool to room temperature, and put in a jar to have it ready to pour over picarones. You can substitute chancaca with molasses syrup or muscovado sugar.
Arroz Chaufa is Peruvian’s version of Chinese fried rice. It is influenced by the large amount of Chinese immigrants to Peru. Peru’s fried rice version consists of rice, sweet peppers, green onions, onions, garlic, soy sauce, scrambled eggs chicken and a dash of sesame oil, ginger and cumin.
INGREDIENTS
1 pound (450g) beef tenderloin, skirt steak
1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
1 medium (8-ounce/225g) red onion, cut into 1/2-inch slices
4 scallions, cut into 2-inch lengths
1 fresh or frozen ají amarillo chile pepper
2 medium plum tomatoes cut into 3/4-inch-thick wedges
2 medium cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece peeled fresh ginger
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons minced fresh cilantro leaves and tender stems
Freshly ground black pepper
French fries, for serving
Cooked long-grain rice, for serving

If you are looking for web design in Tenerife then drop me a line and I will help you locate the right person for the job. Before you do that, please consider what I have to say before you potentially waste your money trying to achieve the impossible.
Who am I?
First let me say – I don’t want your money!
I’m a workaholic and what I do now is purely a hobby, better than spending my retirement on candy crush or drinking myself stupid. The only income I get from my sites is from Google Ads which pay for the upkeep of domain names and a private VPS server. The sites mentioned below are available for free advertising, personal pages will NOT have ads, and any surplus profit from these will go to charity.
I was born in 1952, (I’ll let you do the math!) and have spent my entire adult life in computing, as a programmer, systems analyst, project manager for multi-million size companies and web designer specializing in SEO (search engine optimization).
What I want is to encourage you to think hard about what you want from a website before you start spending time and money. A website is only useful to you if one or more of the following apply:
It all comes down to SEO and it’s really important that you grasp this from the word go. So what do I mean by easy keywords?
There are tools you can use, provided by google, to research the words your customers might search for. Once you know these, you will need to research how many people (and where they are from) are going to search for these terms, and also the competition you are up against.
If you simply want to throw money at the problem, then go ahead and find your web designer first BUT make sure they are experienced in SEO and ask what this will cost you. Otherwise, do your own research first. Many people offer web design, some very cheaply, but there is way more involved than making pretty pictures if you want to rank well in search engines like Google!
I will try not bore you with too much detail, just one or two examples to help you make an informed decision before you waste money.
Numerically, ‘Tenerife’ is an easy keyword but ‘holidays’ is extremely difficult. So a web site designed around holidays in Tenerife will be very very hard to get top positions in google. Boat trips is also difficult – there is massive competition for ‘Tenerife Boat Trips’. On the other hand, ‘Tenerife Guided Walks’ is relatively easy, not so much competition.
‘Tenerife Removals’, Tenerife Plasterer’, again fairly easy, ‘Tenerife Builder’ not impossible, but not easy either. Expanding the keywords you target with web design is important, for example, ‘Builder in Golf del Sur’ is easier.
That should give you a very rough idea what you are up against and discussing this with your web designer will give you a feel for whether they know what they are talking about and whether getting a website is right for you. Hopefully, whatever you decide, you will go into it with realistic expectations.
I will be doing a few more web design tips on the lessons site, see below. This site is also available for free advertising if your business involves learning or tuition of some sort.
To all you keyboard warriors and ‘nay-sayers’: When I say this is free, that’s exactly what it is. If you feel the need to try and disprove this then go ahead but it’s very sad that you can’t believe that there are people in this world that are just happy to give something back!

Health Care in Tenerife
One of the most difficult decisions that many face having moved to Tenerife, is when your partner needs medical or day to day care. If the decision to seek professional help is also in your own best interest, then the guilt can be overwhelming.
Facing age related issues or a progressive illness like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s, your partner still has to deal with their declining health whether you continue functioning as their sole caregiver or choose to bring in outside help.
What many fail to accept is that this is a decision that is really hard to make on your own. Finances are also an issue that is going to weigh heavily. Often, well before you accept the need to make a decision, you will be faced with concerns about how it will all work financially if one of you goes into residential care. This can be very unsettling but it isn’t an uncommon situation.
There are options other than a full time nursing facility and if you plan in advance you should consider insurance of some kind that can help with finances. In addition, take advice on the benefits of paying into the local health care system before the need arises.
Above all, don’t try and face it alone.

Costa Adeje refers to a 20+ kilometre coastline but for holiday purposes refers to the coastal area between Playa de Las Americas and La Caleta, especially the San Eugenio, Torviscas and El Duque areas. The zone covers a number of distinct areas, each with its own flavour, ranging from ‘pint+cheap breakfast’ to classier locations. The resort has the hallmarks of a typical European beach resort rather than traditional Tenerife.
Costa Adeje has some of the best hotels and amenities on the island with blue-flag beaches safe for swimming, many dining options for all tastes and budgets and a diverse range of shops and boutiques. Nightlife in the some areas is more limited outside of the hotels, but there are several lively bars, lounges and cabaret spots. However, for the young and young-at-heart wanting late night bars, discos, etc, nearby Playa de las Americas is only a 10€ taxi ride away.

The harbour at Los Abrigos is a small cove where boats and small fishing boats take refuge. It lacks a jetty and the fishermen of small boats leave them in the middle and have a small boat that brings them closer to the shore. Big boats moor to the sides.

The Marina is now the mooring point of The Sub Fun Cinco submarine, carrying a maximum of 48 passengers plus a crew of 2. A trip on The Sub Fun Cinco usually lasts around 50 minutes, during which you will normally be submerged for around 40 minutes, and departs throughout the day from 10am.

Its the place to go for everything golf. The landscape is dominated by lush greens and fairways, palm trees, ravines, indigenous plants and of course, there are driving ranges and clubhouses, including a 27-hole championship course.
A beautiful coastal walk runs the length of the shoreline, you dont need walking boots to enjoy it. Take your time, take a rest on the many benches on the way and above all, enjoy that wind in your hair feeling while the sun beats down from the glorious blue skies above. The walk starts in Amarilla Golf where there is a lovely marina (departure point for Submarine Safaris) and runs all the way through Golf del Sur, taking in a little town called San Blas catering mostly to tourists.
